BOOK COVER REDESIGN
Les Misérable

Inspired by the historical context and my desire to bring this story to life with a contemporary visual, I designed a cover that reflects themes of rebellion, love, suffering, hope, and transformation. The dust jacket features graffiti art and a font that contrasts with the classic nature of the novel, while the book itself is a sleek, black hardcover with minimalist candlestick textures and a silver title, symbolizing the silver candlesticks that changed Valjean’s life. The chosen font conveys a sense of rebellion and the fluid, hybrid nature of our contemporary world.

Victor Hugo began writing “Les Misérables” in 1846, pausing due to the 1848 Revolution, and completed it in 1861. The novel portrays the lives of the poor in Paris during the Democratic Insurrection, critiquing social inequality and moral dilemmas.
